Guerrilla Games will take the online multiplayer servers of Killzone: Mercenary, Killzone: Shadow Fall and VR game RIGS: Mechanized Combat League offline next month. The offline single player modes in these games will continue to be available.

The studio said Friday on Twitter that the online services of the fps titles will be discontinued on August 12, which is already three weeks away. The PlayStation Vita game Killzone: Mercenary and the PS4 title Killzone: Shadow Fall appeared in 2013. The Amsterdam developer already took the Killzone.com website offline a year and a half ago. Players could no longer create and manage clans for Shadow Fall from then on. In 2018 Killzone 2 and 3’s multiplayer servers were discontinued.

RIGS: Mechanized Combat League was released in 2016 as a launch game for Sony’s PSVR headset. In this sports game, teams of three players in mechanical suits compete against each other to score the most points in a goal.

Discontinuing the online services in the games may also affect some PlayStation trophies. The titles each contain a number of trophies that can only be unlocked online. As of August 12, it may no longer be feasible to obtain a platinum trophy in these titles unless the player has completed all online trophies before then.

In recent years, Guerrilla Games has focused on the Horizon franchise, consisting of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. The studio, which has been owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment since 2005, is also currently working on a Horizon game for the PSVR2: Horizon Call of the Mountain.
