OnePlus publishes OxygenOS 9 based on Android Pie for the OnePlus 6
OnePlus has made OxygenOS 9.0 based on Android 9.0 Pie available for the OnePlus 6. From this release of OxygenOS, the version numbers of the OS and Android continue to coincide.
According to OnePlus the ota is phased and only a limited group of users of the OnePlus 6, randomly selected, receives it on Friday. A wider distribution will follow in a few days. OnePlus does this to ensure that there are no critical bugs in the wide deployment.
OxygenOS 9.0 includes a new user interface, based on Android Pie and new gestures . Furthermore, there is the extensive Do Not Disturb mode and version 3.0 of the Gaming mode. The update also includes the Android security patch 2018.9
OnePlus started at the beginning of this month the open beta period for the release. Google promised in the official announcement of Android 9, in early August, that smartphones from third parties that participated in the beta program, received the OS upgrade before the end of autumn.
