New AMD Ryzen 4000 and 5000 CPUs will be on sale soon for $99

AMD introduces budget processors for single sales for the first time in a long time, with $ 99 as a starting price. In recent years AMD has mainly focused on the higher segment; for example, the entry-level Ryzen 5000 series cost 220 euros. That is now changing.

In total, AMD will introduce six processors this spring, half of which are based on the Zen 3 core, which we know from the Ryzen 5000 series. However, the three cheapest processors still use the older Zen 2 architecture and thus get a place in the Ryzen 4000 series.

It is striking that the six processors are based on three different chips in total. The Ryzen 4000 chips are always Renoir dies, which until now were mainly used for laptop processors. That chip has an integrated GPU, but that is disabled with the Ryzen 3 4100 and Ryzen 5 4500. The igpu is active with the Ryzen 5 4600G.

The Ryzen 5 5500 is completely out of the ordinary, because this new processor is the only one based on Cezanne. That’s the chip of the Ryzen 5 5600G and Ryzen 7 5700G; in fact it is a 5600G with switched off igpu. Finally, the Ryzen 5 5600 and Ryzen 7 5700X use the same Vermeer chip as the regular Ryzen 5000 desktop processors. AMD has not disclosed those technical specifications itself, but can be deduced from the amounts of cache of each model.

The new Ryzens will be available for sale from April 4. Only the Ryzen 7 5700X comes without a cooler, the Ryzen 3’s and 5’s come with a Wraith Stealth in the box.
