Netgear announces Nighthawk router with 4G functionality
Netgear has announced a version of its Nighthawk AC1900 that has 4G functionality. The router supports lte category 6, for theoretical maximum speeds of 300Mbit/s.
The Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 R7100LG can automatically fall back on the 4G connection if the fixed connection is lost. The manufacturer therefore mainly sees applications for business-critical devices such as security cameras and cash registers and for places where no fixed connection is available.
In addition to support for lte category 6, there is support for dual-band Wi-Fi, with theoretical maximum speeds of 600+1300Mbit/s on 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The Nighthawk has three detachable antennas. There is a Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and there are four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports. In addition, there is a USB 2.0 port on the back and a USB 3.0 port on the front. The SIM card can be inserted into a slot on the back. The processor is an undisclosed dual-core at 1GHz.
Netgear does not mention prices itself, but at online stores the router stands for prices of approximately 357 to 382 euros.
