Nano Banana is Google’s new star: here’s how to use it

Spread the love

Google announced the impressive Nano Banana just a week ago, and it’s already helped the Gemini app gain over 10 million new users. Nano Banana is a funny name for what’s actually called Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. This is why it’s so popular.

Using Nano Banana in Gemini

Nano Banana lets you upload a photo of yourself and then ask for it to be placed in a specific setting. See, for example, the car above this article: it obviously wasn’t in a pink sky with unicorns. If you want to use Nano Banana too, you can. You don’t need an expensive Google AI subscription; you can simply use it when you download the Gemini app (something many people have apparently done since this innovation arrived).

These are the steps you take next:

  • Open the Gemini app
  • Tap the banana icon that says Image
  • Press the plus sign below the text field
  • Select Gallery and choose the photo you want to use
  • Type in the “Ask Gemini” box what you want, for example, “Put this car in a pink cloud background with unicorns and glitter.”
  • Then tap the arrow at the bottom right
  • Gemini generates your image in the chat conversation.
  • Once it’s ready, you’ll see the image and can tap on it to continue using it.

Gemini app is increasingly popular

You can do some really cool things with it, like putting your partner on a roller coaster if you want to give him or her a day out at Walibi as a gift, or if you work for a company that makes a cool product, turn it into a kind of sports hero by having it placed on a winner’s block as if it were a winning Formula 1 driver.

Over 200 million images have already been captured with Nano Banana, giving the Gemini app a significant boost. The Gemini app offers more possibilities, such as asking questions about your calendar or email, thanks to synchronization between Gemini and those Google apps. You can also ask anything via chat or use Live to capture a fish, for example, by using your phone’s camera and asking where it lives. If you have a more expensive Gemini subscription, you can also use Veo 3 to have the AI generate videos. With audio overview, you can transform documents into a kind of podcast, making absorbing even the most complex material easier.
