Microsoft did not make Xbox One consoles in 2021. Production of all models of the previous generation has stopped at the end of 2020, the manufacturer tells The Verge. Sony is still making copies of its PlayStation 4 console.

Production of all Xbox One models will be discontinued at the end of 2020, says Microsoft to The Verge. The company has done this to focus entirely on the production of the Xbox Series X and S. Xbox One S consoles are still sporadically offered in the Pricewatch, but that is therefore old stock.

In July 2020, Microsoft announced it would stop manufacturing the Xbox One X and One S without a disc tray. The company then announced that production of the regular Xbox One S would continue, but did not say until when.

According to rumors, Sony would make more PlayStation 4s again, because of the chip shortages. Last year, Sony delivered 1.7 million units of the PS4 between January and the end of September. In the same period, 8.9 million PlayStation 5 consoles were shipped. The figures for the last quarter of 2021 are not yet known.

The shortages affect more parts than the primary chip containing the cpu and gpu. Microsoft said last year that Xbox Series production is suffering from shortages of Ethernet ports and “many more” parts.
