Microsoft will release Office 2019 only for Windows 10 in the second half of 2018

Microsoft will release Office 2019 in the second half of this year. The developer only supports the loose version of the office package on Windows 10 and not on older Windows versions.

Ahead of the release of Office 2019 in the second half of 2018, previews of the Office 2019 apps and server software will appear in the second quarter of this year. The office suite only runs on Windows 10 and consists of the apps Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Skype for Business and the server software Exchange, SharePoint and Skype for Business. The apps are only available as a click-to-run installation and not as an msi package. Microsoft announced in September last year that Office 2019 was on its way.

Microsoft is further reducing the additional support period from five to two years, bringing the total support period to seven years, instead of the ten years of previous Office versions. At the same time, Microsoft is extending support for some Windows 10 Education and Enterprise versions by six months, ending support for the most recent W10 version, 1709, on October 8 next year.
