Microsoft has started rolling out the updated interface for the Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S. The update is now available for the first users and will be rolled out to everyone with an Xbox console in the coming weeks.

The updated Xbox interface offers, among other things, extra space for background images. The ’tiles’ containing UI elements are pushed further down, making the image more visible. The size of individual tiles has also been reduced. The console also gets a quick access menu at the top of the home screen. That menu provides quick access to the game library, the Microsoft Store, Xbox Game Pass, search and the settings menu.

Further down are also new personalized and curated lists of games, along with a revamped interface for updates from friends and communities. It will also be possible to change the background of the interface to the game selected in the list of recently played games, Microsoft writes.

Microsoft started testing a new interface for the Xbox home screen a year ago. The company has incorporated several user feedback points. The company rolled back previous experimental changes to the interface after criticism from users, including because the background image was not clearly visible.

The updated UI has been officially available since Wednesday, July 26. The update is now available for “a subset of all Xbox consoles.” The rollout will be expanded in the near future and the new UI should be available to all Xbox users in the coming weeks.
