Microsoft makes Windows Fall Creators Update available on October 17 17

Microsoft is making the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 available on October 17, 2017. The company announced this during the IFA. The launch coincides with the availability of Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

The Fall Creators Update is the second major update to Windows 10 when it comes out this year; the Creators Update was released in April. Microsoft will likely distribute the update in a phased manner starting October 17, just like the company did with the Creators Update. Microsoft announced the Fall Creators Update in May.

The update brings a new visual representation to Windows 10 called the Fluent Design System, which was initially known as Project Neon. In addition, the update brings the arrival of OneDrive Files On-Demand, with extensive synchronization options for online file storage. In addition, there will be a universal clipboard function that also works on Android and iOS smartphones. Game Mode has also been updated to give this mode full processing power when gaming.

At the same time as the update, the first Mixed Reality headsets for Windows 10 will be available. Partners such as Dell, Lenovo, Acer and HP have already announced such VR glasses. Microsoft claims to have used the experiences with the HoloLens during the development, including for the sensor system to map the user’s environment.
