Microsoft develops app for handwritten input on Android Wear
Microsoft has developed a ‘keyboard’ for the Android Wear operating system. The software works with handwritten input. For the time being, this is an early version of the software, which only works with the Moto 360 and smartwatches with a resolution of 320×320 pixels.
Microsoft’s research department put version 0.1 of Analogue Keyboard online. Users interested in the handwriting text input app can download it along with its installation instructions. Input is possible by writing characters on the watch face of the watch.
According to Microsoft, it is still an early version that only works on the Moto 360 from Motorola and on smartwatches with the square resolution of 320×320 pixels. It is likely that future versions of the app will receive more extensive support for smartwatches on the Android Wear operating system.
Smartwatches generally use voice input. The screen of smart watches is too small to show a full keyboard on it.
