Max Payne and Alan Wake II voice actor James McCaffrey has passed away

James McCaffrey, the voice actor of Max Payne, died on Sunday at the age of 65 due to cancer. McCaffrey also provided voices in other games, including Alan Wake II and Control.

The news of his death was brought out by TMZ and was later confirmed by developer Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games. In addition to voicing Max Payne in the game franchise of the same name, McCaffrey voiced director Zachariah Trench in Control and voiced Alex Casey in Alan Wake II. The voice actor also had a cameo in the 2008 live-action adaptation of Max Payne and has appeared in several TV series, including Rescue Me.

Remedy Entertainment and Rockstar Games announced remakes of Max Payne 1 and 2 last year. According to Remedy, the remakes are now ready for production. The Finnish studio also announced that Alan Wake II will receive two paid expansions.
