Logitech Introduces 4K Webcam With Windows Hello Support
Logitech has announced a webcam that can record in 4k resolution and also features an infrared sensor. Thanks to the latter, the camera can be used for logging in using facial recognition via Windows Hello.
The Logitech Brio supports resolutions up to 4096×2160 pixels with up to 30fps. In 1080p resolution, the frame rate is up to 60fps and at 720p it goes up to 90fps. The webcam is about 10 cm wide and weighs 63 grams. The camera can be mounted on a monitor with a supplied clip.
The maximum field of view is 90 degrees, but there are also other positions available for a narrower angle of view of 65 and 78 degrees. When using full HD resolution, five times digital zoom can be applied. For audio recordings, the Brio webcam has two built-in microphones. The camera can be connected to a computer with USB 2.0, 3.0 or USB-C.
According to Logitech, the camera also has HDR support. The image is adjusted using software so that people are clearly visible in the backlight, too. The Brio is certified for use with Windows Hello. That makes it possible to log in to Windows 10 with biometric identification based on a facial scan.
Logitech sells the Brio for a suggested retail price of 239 euros, but does not currently have the webcam in stock. It is not yet known when the webcam will be available and in stores.
