Logitech announces it will acquire Streamlabs, a developer of software and tools that allows gamers to stream live to platforms such as Twitch, YouTube and Facebook. Logitech pays 89 million dollars for the company, converted 81.5 million euros, supplemented with shares.

San Francisco-based Streamlabs is best known for its live streaming app Streamlabs OBS, a free tool that is said to be used by more than 15 million video and game streamers. The software enables live streaming to multiple popular platforms and allows users to grow their channel and make it financially lucrative. For example, the company claims that almost $ 412 million has been paid to live streamers who work with Streamlabs OBS to date.

Meanwhile, about 70 percent of Twitch users would broadcast their content via Streamlabs technology. In response to that success, Twitch introduced its own broadcasting app Twitch Studio at the beginning of August, but it is currently still in beta and offers less functionality for the time being.

Streamlabs and its new owner Logitech are no strangers to each other. Both companies have been working together for two years to ensure that the accessory manufacturer’s hardware and Streamlabs software are optimized for each other. Logitech does not expect the acquisition to affect its fiscal year 2020 figures. Logitech will pay the company $81.5 million in cash for the company, and an additional $26.5 million in Logitech shares.
