LG announces Velvet smartphone with stylus support

LG has announced the Velvet smartphone in its home country of South Korea. The phone takes the place of the G series in the line-up. The smartphone includes support for a stylus, just like the more expensive V60 ThinQ.

The phone measures 167x74mm and is 7.9mm thick, according to the product page. The OLED screen measures 158x69mm and has a diagonal of 6.8 “, with a resolution of 2460×1080 pixels and an area of ​​110 square centimeters. The device weighs 180 grams. The housing contains a 4300mAh battery, which can charge wired and wirelessly.

The phone has three cameras on the back. The primary camera has a 48-megapixel sensor while there is also an ultra-wide-angle camera with an 8-megapixel sensor and a depth sensor. The camera in the notch of the screen has a resolution of sixteen megapixels. LG wants to distinguish the camera with, among other things, making asmr video with a more sensitive microphone setting.

The device supports input via a Wacom stylus with 4096 pressure points. That support is also in the previously announced V60 ThinQ smartphone. There is no place for a stylus in the case. It does have a USB-C port and 3.5mm jack. The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 with 5g support. The phone has 8GB of memory of an unknown type and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage with a micro-SD slot for expansion via memory cards.

The phone comes out in South Korea for 899,900 won, which is currently about 677 euros. It is unknown if and when the Velvet will be released in other countries.
