Warzone has passed the 60 million player mark. The battle royale segment of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released about two months ago and the number of players is still growing.

Activision announced the number during the presentation of its quarterly results for the past three months. The company compares Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released last October with all previous Call of Duty titles and states that Modern Warfare ranks best in terms of player numbers and copies sold at this point in time, six months after the release. the release.

According to Activision, significant deliveries were seen in March in particular, which the publisher partly explains due to the corona crisis. In addition, the company states that upgrades from the free-to-play Warzone also contributed. This concerns players who decide not only to continue playing the free Warzone, but also to purchase the full Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Things like weapon advancements, ranks, and the Battle Pass are shared between the base game and Warzone.

Comparing Modern Warfare’s past first quarter to Black Ops 4’s first quarter of 2019, in-game net bookings more than doubled. The term net bookings refers to the net number of products and services sold digitally or physically during a period, including license revenue, merchandise, in-game advertising. In this case, it concerns the in-game net bookings, so the digital purchase of, for example, in-game money, skins or the Battle Pass.

Warzone is still growing considerably, although it is no longer as fast as before. The free-to-play battle royale component was released on March 10 and had already attracted a player base of six million players after 24 hours. That number was already fifteen million after three days and about a month after the release the 50 million barrier was broken. It took less than a month to reach the current number of more than 60 million players.

Activision Blizzard had combined revenues of $1.79 billion in the first quarter, a small decrease from the $1.83 billion in the same period a year earlier. Profits rose, however, to $505 million. That was $447 million in the first three months of 2019.
