Intel has released a new model in its Optane P4800X series for data centers. The model has a storage capacity twice as high as the existing SSD, which appeared in March and can accommodate 375GB.

It is the second SSD in the Intel Optane SSD DC P4800X series, as the product line is called in full. Like the 375GB model, the 750GB variant appears as a hhl card and in a hot-swappable 2.5″ version in u2 form factor. The other specifications are identical, although the consumption of the 750GB version is a fraction higher.

Intel will start selling the P4800X with 750GB later this month. When the Optane DC P4800X was introduced, the company was still talking about a release in the second quarter. It is unknown why the release has been postponed. The version with 1.5 TB should also be released this year. It is unknown whether this release will also be delayed. Intel keeps it coming soon for the release date.

The SSD with 3D XPoint memory is aimed at data centers and should distinguish itself with, among other things, a low latency. Intel has now also released SSDs with this phase change memory for desktops.
