Intel comes with 240GB variant in 330 series SSDs
Intel has released a new variant of its 330 series solid state drives. The newest SSD, the largest in the series in terms of storage capacity, has been given a capacity of 240GB, while the rest of the SSDs have been reduced in price.
The 330 series solid state drives were reduced in price to make room for the new 240GB version. The smaller versions, with capacities of 60GB, 120GB and 180GB, received lower suggested retail prices. The more expensive series of 520 SSDs were also significantly reduced in price. That series was reduced in price at least ten dollars, or 9 percent. The biggest drop was for the larger drives; the 480GB version dropped in price from $809 to $594, or 37.7 percent.
The new 240GB version of the 330 series has not yet received a price, but it would be around two hundred dollars, given the prices of the other SSDs in the series. Like the smaller versions, the 240GB drive is built from 25nm flash memory, controlled by a SandForce 2281 controller. The drive has a sata-600 interface and is said to reach 500MB/s reading and 450MB/s writing.
