Insomniac Games: Spider-Man 2 will have a game world twice as large

Insomniac Games has shared more details about Spider-Man 2. An interview with The Washington Post shows that the game world will be twice as large as that of 2018’s Spider-Man, co-op was never planned and the PlayStation 5 will have new gameplay elements allow.

Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith of Insomniac Games state to The Washington Post that the city in which the game is set is “twice as big” this time compared to the first Spider-Man game from 2018. Insomniac Games has added neighborhoods from New York City, such as Queens and Brooklyn, to the game world of Spider-Man Man 2 added. The two gentlemen state that it is a single-player game and there was never any co-op. “From day one, we wanted to create a single-player experience.”

According to Intihar and Smith, the PlayStation 5 will ensure that the playable Spider-Man characters will be able to move through the game world faster. The tech in the console also allows players to switch characters “practically seamlessly.” On the PlayStation 4, this reportedly took a few seconds.

Spider-Man 2 will be released for PlayStation 5 in fall 2023. The single-player game was announced in 2021 and is the sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man and its 2020 spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In Spider-Man 2 both Peter Parker and Miles Morales play leading roles, with both variants of the superhero having to face the villain Venom, it was written Sony in a blog post. During the recent PlayStation Showcase event, Sony showed off a trailer showing gameplay of the game.
