Huawei is releasing a MateView monitor in China with a diagonal of 28.2 “and a resolution of 3840×2560 pixels. The screen has a 3:2 ratio and can be used, among other things, for the desktop display of Huawei smartphones.

The Huawei MateView monitor has an IPS panel with a maximum brightness of 500cd/m², a contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The 3:2 aspect ratio is striking; monitors with such a ratio are currently not for sale from other brands. Some laptop manufacturers do use 3:2 screens. The screen can display the full sRGB color space and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.

The screen can display the desktop mode of compatible Huawei smartphones. This works by placing the phone on the foot. A wireless connection is then made, showing the software or the phone on the screen. The monitor is powered via a USB-C connection and also has two USB-A ports, an additional USB-C connection, HDMI and Mini DisplayPort.

With the MateView GT, Huawei also presents a 21:9 monitor for gamers, with a soundbar built into the foot. That screen has a curved VA panel with a curvature of 1500R, a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels and a refresh rate of 165Hz. The contrast ratio is 4000:1 and the maximum brightness is 350cd/m².

In China, the MateView screen with 3:2 ratio costs 4699 yuan. Converted that is about 600 euros. The MateView GT widescreen monitor costs 3599 yuan, converted about 460 euros. It is not known whether Huawei also has plans to release the screens in Europe.
