HP equips 40″ monitor with resolution of 5120×2160 pixels with 4k webcam
With the Z40c G3, HP introduces a curved 40″ monitor with 21:9 ratio and a resolution of 5120×2160 pixels. The screen has a curvature of 2500R and a built-in fold-out 4k webcam with a 13-megapixel sensor.
The HP Z40c G3 is based on a 39.7″ IPS panel with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The panel has a brightness of 300cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. The gray-to-gray response time is 14ms. According to HP the panel can display 100 percent of the sRGB and 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space.Like other monitors in the Z Series, the screen is delivered calibrated.
At the top of the monitor is a webcam, which can also be tilted and folded. HP uses a 13-megapixel sensor for the module, which makes video calling in 4k resolution possible. HP also includes software that allows users to zoom, crop and adjust brightness.
The monitor is adjustable in height by 150mm with the supplied stand. The display has two Thunderbolt 3 ports with Type C connection, which can also deliver up to 100W via USB Power Delivery. This allows the screen to provide power to a laptop, for example, while the same cable is used to display an image.
In addition, the HP Z40c G3 has an HDMI 2.0 port, a DisplayPort 1.4 connection, an Ethernet connection and four USB 3.0 ports. The display supports HP Device Bridge 2.0, which allows a connected keyboard and mouse to be used on two different PCs.
Hp will release the Z40c G3 in February for a suggested retail price of 1399 euros. Dell and Lenovo have had 40″ monitors with the 5k2k resolution in their range for some time. LG and MSI are making 34″ monitors with the same resolution. These are listed in the Pricewatch for amounts from around a thousand euros.
34″ variant with lower resolution
HP also introduces the Z34c G3. That is a 34″ variant with a resolution of 3440×1440 pixels. This screen has a similar construction to the webcam, but with a 5-megapixel sensor. The smaller monitor will also appear in February, for a suggested retail price of 899 euros.

HP OMEN 27u with 144Hz panel and HDMI 2.1
With its game brand OMEN, HP is also introducing a 27″ monitor with an IPS panel, a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a refresh rate of 144Hz. The screen has an HDMI 2.1 connection and can therefore also be used in combination with new consoles. of the HDMI connection, the refresh rate is a maximum of 120Hz, which is also the maximum value that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox Series consoles support.To use 144Hz, the monitor must be connected to a PC via the DisplayPort 1.4 connection .
The screen has AMD FreeSync Pro support, a response time of 1ms and a maximum brightness of 450cd/m². The monitor is VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified. According to the manufacturer, the contrast ratio is 1000:1 and the screen can display 95 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. With sRGB playback, that is 99 percent.
HP will release the OMEN 27u monitor in the spring for a suggested retail price of 799 euros. This makes the screen one of the cheapest HDMI 2.1 monitors to date. At the time of writing, the Pricewatch contains one other HDMI 2.1 monitor with the same price.
