HP Announces Windows 10 Elite x3 Smartphone and Laptop Module

HP has announced the Elite x3. The manufacturer also comes with a Continuum dock and a Mobile Extender for the smartphone. The Extender is a 12.5″ screen with a keyboard, so that the Elite x3 can also be used as a laptop.

HP provides the Elite x3 smartphone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820-soc, 4GB lpddr4 ram and 64GB emmc storage memory. The device has a 5.96″ OLED screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Users can log in with iris recognition or using the fingerprint scanner. The device also has stereo speakers and a 4150mAh battery with support for wireless charging and there is a micro- SD slot present in the housing.

The smartphone has a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The HP Elite x3 measures 161.8×83.5×7.8mm and weighs 195 grams. The housing is dust and waterproof according to IP67 specifications and can survive a fall from 1.2 meters. The device is expected to be available from the summer, the price will be announced later simultaneously with the availability.

HP presents the Elite x3 as a three-in-one device that can serve as a smartphone, PC or laptop. To make this possible, accessories are available. The HP Desk Dock is a Continuum dock that allows the smartphone to be connected to a computer monitor. The dock has a displayport connection, ethernet, two USB-a and a USB-c connector.

HP makes the Mobile Extender to be able to use the Elite x3 as a laptop as well. This is in fact a laptop without hardware, the device weighs about 1kg and consists of a 12.5″ screen, keyboard and extra battery with a capacity of 46.5Wh. The screen has a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and the housing of the Extender has three USB-C ports and a micro HDMI connection.The smartphone can be connected wirelessly or with a USB-C cable.
