HP announces 11.6″ Chromebook with AMD processor

Following on from the 14″ Chromebook that HP announced earlier this month, the company is also launching an 11.6″ model with AMD processor. The Chromebook 11A G6 is aimed at educational use.

HP announced the Chromebook 11A G6 Education Edition at BETT 2019, an education-focused event taking place in London. The Chromebook has an 11.6 “screen with IPS panel and a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, which can be opened 180 degrees. Optionally, there is a touchscreen. The laptop is 19 mm thick and has reinforced edges, so that it can take a beating There is 4GB RAM and up to 32GB EMMC storage.

The processor is an AMD A4-9120C. This is a dual-core that AMD announced this month and is offering especially for Chromebooks. HP also uses the processor for its Chromebook 14A G5, which the company announced during CES. According to Trusted Reviews, the Chromebook 11A G6 Education Edition will appear in Europe in February for a starting price of 299 pounds, which is 343 euros and if the mentioned price does not yet include VAT, it becomes 414 euros.

The Chromebook 11A G6 Education Edition is part of a series of new education-focused laptops from HP. This includes the Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE, a laptop with 11.6″ touchscreen that can be folded and that HP supplies with a Wacom stylus. The processor is the Celeron N4000 dual-core or the Celeron N4100 quad-core from HP. Intel HP is also releasing a version without a flip-over touchscreen: the Chromebook 11 G7 EE.
