HP adds 14″ model and 2×2 WiFi ac to Stream line of budget laptops – update
HP has expanded and modified its Stream line of budget laptops. The expansion concerns a 14″ model and as far as the adjustments are concerned, the network card has been improved, the battery capacity has been expanded and the housing has been made thinner.
HP’s Stream line consists of Windows 10 laptops with a relatively low price, which is possible, among other things, because of the limited emmc storage capacity of 32GB, which Windows 10 still takes a part of: for the other storage users must use Microsoft’s OneDrive. The new lineup consists of an 11.6″ screen version, a x360 model of the same size but with a flip-up touchscreen and a 14″ laptop.
The three models have a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage memory. The processor is the Celeron N3060, a dual-core SOC based on Braswell. The previous Stream generation had to make do with WiFi-n, but HP equips the new models with a 2×2 802.11ac network card. The Stream 11″ is 18mm thick, the 11″x360 19.8mm and the 14″ measures 17.9mm. The battery capacity, according to the manufacturer, is ten hours and 45 minutes, but it is not known under what conditions this was measured and whether this is representative.
HP is releasing the laptops in blue, purple and white. The Stream x360 will also be available in black. Euro prices are not yet known, but in the US the 11″ and 11″ x360 will arrive on August 24 for $199 and 249 respectively, while the 14″ laptop will be available on September 7 for $219.
Update, Friday 12.00: The HP Stream 11″, 11″ x360 and 14″ will arrive in the Benelux in September, all three for a suggested retail price of 249 euros.
