Google is giving the Fitbit app a complete Material You redesign and new features in the fall. Among other things, adjusting the prominent Today statistics has been made easier and two new tabs have been added: You and Coach.

The new Fitbit app will have three tabs: Today, Coach and You. The first tab remains largely the same as the current Today. The order of the four prominent statistics can be adjusted as before, but now some presets are also provided. If users want to focus on becoming more active, for example, statistics for steps taken, calories burned, etc. are shown first. zone minutes and distance traveled. If they want to focus on better sleep, statistics for hours of sleep, steps, mindfulness and zone minutes are provided as presets.

Furthermore, Google promises in Today should show ‘more consistent graphs, graphics and icons’ and it should be easier to record information, such as exercises performed or water intake, on the phone. In addition, according to Google, Fitbit’s pedometer is more accurate and users should be able to quickly see ‘relevant information’ during a walk or running session via the app, such as a map with a live view of the running route.

The next tab, Coach, should contain “motivational health and fitness content.” Users can, for example, take mindfulness classes or participate in workout sessions. Certain classes are free, while others, like HIIT, are exclusive to Fitbit Premium subscribers. The lessons can be filtered by duration and category, among other things.

Finally, in the You tab, users can adjust their personal goals, such as daily step counts, and adjust other personal data. The badges, which users can earn for certain achievements, can also be viewed here. There is also a Community section to communicate with other Fitbit users.

Although the app will be released sometime in the fall, Google says that “a select number of Fitbit users” will immediately receive an invitation to try the beta version and provide feedback.
