Google has stopped selling its Pixel 2 smartphones and only supplies the new Pixel 3 models. The Pixel 2 models, which came out a year and a half ago, are still for sale at other online stores.

That the Pixel 2 models have disappeared from the Google Store was noted by Android Police. A direct link to the Pixel 2 now automatically redirects to the Pixel 3. Google itself has not disclosed anything about stopping deliveries of Pixel 2 devices.

Smartphone manufacturers often keep old models in their range to sell them at a lower price. For example, Apple still sells iPhone 7 models that came out in 2016. The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL now cost 799 and 899 dollars in the American webshop. In March, Google did take $200 off those prices, but that was a limited-time offer.

The disappearance of the Pixel 2 devices as a cheaper option could be related to the likely arrival of new cheaper models. There have been rumors for months about the arrival of the Pixel 3a and an XL variant thereof. According to a rumor, the small model will cost about 450 euros. It is still unclear when Google will release these variants of the Pixel 3.

Google does not sell its Pixel smartphones itself in the Benelux. There are some online stores that offer them. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are still available at various webshops in the Pricewatch for prices from 449 and 549 euros respectively.
