Google Play Movies app refers to free movies with ads

References to free movies with commercials were found in the Google Play Movies app. Among other things, the text ‘hundreds of movies, just a few advertisements’ is in the code. Currently, movies can only be purchased or rented in the app.

According to XDA Developers, the references are in version 4.18.37 of the Google Play Movies app for Android. The text can only be seen in the code of the apk and not yet processed in the app itself. Whether the option for free movies with commercials will actually become available is not certain.

It is also not clear from the text whether it concerns a worldwide offer. At the end of 2018, YouTube already introduced the possibility to watch about a hundred free films with advertising. That was only possible in the United States.
