Google has updated Chrome OS to the stable version 35. The group has, among other things, added support for bundling apps in folders. Interestingly enough, Chromeboxes can’t be updated yet.

Google has brought Chrome OS to version number 35.0.1916.116 with the update. Among other things, the development team has squashed some bugs and increased security. In addition, new features have been added, such as being able to create folders to bundle web apps in the launcher. Users can pick up an icon from the app launcher and drag it to another icon, grouping them together when released.

In addition, upon user request, the minimize button is back and users can pin windows to the left or right side of the screen. To do this, they have to hold down the maximize button and drag a window to one side.

English-speaking users can now start speech recognition on new tabs and the Google.com page with the command ‘Ok, Google’. Finally, captive portal detection has been added to recognize and connect more easily through the authentication pages of public hotspots.

It is striking that the update can be implemented for all Chrome OS devices, except for the Chromeboxes from Asus and Samsung. It is not known whether and if so when those systems will receive an update.
