Google has posted four job openings for new Stadia developers. The company gives preference to people with experience in VR. Google does not currently offer VR titles through Stadia and the company does not indicate whether this will happen in the future.

The four vacancies were noticed by Road to VR. Among other things, Google is looking for a staff software developer for Stadia, in addition to three engineering managers, respectively for the front-end of Stadia, the Stadia Client Software Development Kit and Stadia Discovery. In all these vacancies, the company prefers developers with several years of experience in various specializations, including virtual reality.

It is not clear why Google is looking for developers with VR experience. The company closed its Stadia Games & Entertainment studios earlier this year and has stopped developing its own games for the service since then. The company may eventually want to offer VR games from other developers through its cloud gaming platform, although Google doesn’t confirm that in the job listings. The vacancies focus on various aspects of the Stadia platform, from the SDK and developer functions to end-user features.
