Google will use generative AI to help with clothing shopping. At certain online stores, Google AI will show how a garment looks on models with different body shapes.

The feature is still limited in its availability. For now, it’s only available in the US and is limited to a few different online clothing stores. For now, the feature is also limited to tops for women.

Within those limitations, Google’s AI can take the images of the garment and “place” them on models with a variety of body shapes, hair types, and skin tones. The sizes range from XXS to 4XL. The idea is that the AI correctly estimates how a piece of clothing fits on those people. The models were photographed normally; the AI only adds the garment.

In addition, Google is adding the option to Shopping to find similar clothing items at other stores based on a top, for example for less money or with a different pattern. This function is also initially only available in the US.

Google also shows the male models, even though they are not yet used
