Entrepreneur and game developer Kenney Vleugels wants to open a center in Kerkrade where game developers can work together and meet each other. The project is intended to give game development in Limburg an impulse.

To bring game development in Limburg to a further stage, the developer, who has been making games since 2004, wants to set up the so-called Kenney Land. Vleugels wants to organize various activities in the centre: he wants to hold so-called ‘game jams’, in which a complete game is developed in 24 or 48 hours. In addition, workshops, training and meetings must take place in the building in Kerkrade. The aim is to raise the level and interest in Limburg game development to a higher level.

In order to be able to implement the plans, Vleugels wants to raise about 40,000 dollars through crowdfunding, or almost 31,500 euros. That target amount is far from being achieved; the question is whether that will work. The campaign started on August 19 and will run until October 18. At the time of writing, however, the counter is only at 8614 dollars, converted 6782 euros. If it is not possible to collect the budget through crowdfunding, Vleugels hopes to find other lenders. The doors have to be opened around the turn of the year.
