G.Skill introduces DDR5 memory kits with ecc and capacities up to 256GB
G.Skill introduces new Zeta R5-DDR5 memory sets for use with Intel’s new Xeon-W processors. The company supplies the kits with ECC support and capacities up to 256GB. The Zeta R5 series will be released in March.
G.Skill releases its Zeta R5 sets with speeds of 5600, 6000 or 6400MT/s, the company said in a press release. The kits come with four or eight memory dimms of 16 or 32GB each. With this, the manufacturer offers total capacities of 64 to 256GB. The Zeta R5 sets consist of so-called R-dimms with buffered memory, that according to Tom’s Hardware also support error correction code.
The dimms have a simple design with a black pcb and a small aluminum heatsink. The memory sets also support Intel’s XMP 3.0 overclocking profiles. G.Skill will make the Zeta R5 sets available in March. However, the company is not yet sharing suggested retail prices.
The memory sets, according to G.Skill, are intended for use with the new Xeon W2400 and X3400 processors and their companion W790 chipset with four or eight memory channels. Intel announced those CPUs earlier this month. Unlike Intel’s Xeon server processors, these are CPUs intended for use in workstations. Intel ships the Xeon processors with more PCIe 5.0 lanes and memory support than its consumer Core CPUs.
