Futurama has its own ‘meme generator’

Connoisseurs of the texts from Futurama can indulge themselves; a quote search engine has been released that makes it easy to find quotes from the series. A quote can then be instantly converted into a meme or an animated gif.

The quote search engine consists of 816,414 screenshots and allows enthusiasts to find their favorite quotes without any problem. The search engine is called Morbotron, named after Morbo the Annihilator, a space creature waiting for the moment to destroy the weak and inferior humans. The search engine was created by the same creators as Frinkiac, a Simpsons quotes search engine that saw the light of day early this year.

To create screenshots, a scene is cut into a hundred equal pieces, of which some images are made. The frames are compared using code written in Go and texts are extracted from subtitle files. All this together makes for a nice afternoon searching for quotes.
