Firmware update: Synology RT1900ac 1.1 build 6338.2

Synology has released an update to version 1.1 of the firmware for its RT1900ac router. This device is capable of excellent performance, has extensive features and is easy to operate through a user interface similar to Synology Disk Station Manager. In version 1.1, among other things, the possibility has been added to connect a second WAN connection and use it as a backup connection or load balancer. There are also security improvements and an app to measure signal strength to find the best location for the router. Since then, the following improvements have been made:

  • Enhanced the security of Linux kernel (CVE-2016-5696).
  • Fixed an issue where certain routing function might fail to work on PPPoE connections when Smart WAN is enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where domain name settings in DHCP Server might be erased after system reboot.
  • Fixed an issue where default gateway might be disabled after system reboot/upgrade.
  • Fixed an issue where guaranteed bandwidth in Traffic Control might fail to work properly when maximum bandwidth is not set.

  • Enhanced the security of UPnP-related applications (CVE-2016-6255: libupnp).
  • Fixed an issue where settings in Network Center > Security > Service might be incorrectly displayed after adding certain firewall rules.
  • Fixed an issue where PPPoE connection might fail after the upgrade.
  • Fixed an issue where switching the Internet connection type from Auto to Manual might fail.
  • Fixed an issue where SRM might fail to acquire DHCP IP addresses from certain ISPs in the United States.
