Firmware update: Sony PlayStation 4 6.51

Sony released new firmware for the PlayStation 4 earlier this year. The firmware carries version number 6.51 and is just over 350MB in size. Downloading is preferably done from the update menu of the game console itself, but can also be done via the Sony’s website. The list of changes states that the performance of the system has been improved in this release. This list looks like this:

  • Remote Play is now available on iOS devices. You can use (PS4 Remote Play) to connect to your PS4 system from devices such as smartphones and tablets. Download (PS4 Remote Play) from the App Store.

Other features in version 6.50

  • You can now choose 720p when broadcasting with Niconico Live. This service is only available in certain countries and regions.
  • You can now change the button assignments for ‘Enter’ operations from the (circle) key to the (cross) key.
    Select (Settings) > [Systeem] and select the box [Gebruik de (kruis)-toets als enter]. This option is only available for certain countries and regions.
