Firmware update: Nikon 1 J1/V1 1.40

Nikon has for its Nikon 1 J1– and V1-digital cameras released new firmware, with version number 1.40. These cameras have a Nikon CX-format cmos image sensor on board and can be fitted with different lenses. For more information on the Nikon 1 series and these two models, please refer to our October 2011 hands-on. The list of changes in this update is as follows:

Changes in this version

• Support for the FULL/LIMIT focus limit switch on the 1 NIKKOR VR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 has been added.
  If the camera firmware is updated to this version, autofocus will not work if an FT1 with L firmware version 1.10 or earlier is used.
  FT1 users should update the FT1 L firmware to version 1.20 along with the camera firmware update.
• An issue that prevented photos from printing via the PictBridge standard with some printers has been resolved.
