Firmware Update: HTC Touch Pro2 2.07.404.1

HTC released new firmware for its Touch Pro2 smartphone on Thursday. The version number is 2.07.404.1 and you can download it at the bottom this page enter the serial number of your Touch Pro2. What exactly will change with this update, HTC has not announced, the release notes only talk about a ‘general update’:

Before proceeding, please confirm that this software upgrade is a newer version than what is currently installed on the device. If it is the same version and your device functions normally, there is no need to reinstall the software.

You can check which version is installed on your device by clicking Start > Settings > System tab > Device Information > Version tab. Then read the rom version, cpu and radio version.

• This is a general software update. Other additional programs or settings provided by the network provider or organization will be lost. If you require this adjustment, please contact the supplier before proceeding.
• Note that this upgrade will erase all data on the device. Once you proceed with the upgrade, the system cannot be restored.

Back up your data first before upgrading the device. Before using the ROM Upgrade Utility (RUU), please check the following:

• The USB sync cable is connected to the device and PC. If the PC is using Windows XP®, ActiveSync® will start automatically to establish a connection. If your PC is running Windows Vista™, Windows Mobile Device Center establishes a connection between your device and PC.
• All active programs on the device are closed.
• Make sure the battery level of the device is at least 50%. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Power to check.
• The update can take up to 30 minutes. DO NOT interrupt the update, DO NOT call, DO NOT disconnect the device from the PC, and DO NOT press any button until the update is complete.

Once the RUU has been downloaded, launch the application on the PC and follow the instructions.
