Final Fantasy XIV will receive an Xbox version and new expansion in 2024

The mmorpg Final Fantasy XIV will be available for the Xbox Series In addition, a fifth expansion has been announced.

An open beta of the mmorpg should be available for Xbox consoles later this year, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer and Final Fantasy XIV director Naoki Yoshida say during the annual FFXIV Fan Festival. Progress will be transferable once the full version releases in Spring 2024.

A free Trial version will also be available at the same time as the release. This allows players to play the game without a time limit until they reach level 70. This version also includes access to the first two expansions, Heavensward and Stormblood. The Trial is already available for the PlayStation and PC versions.

The Xbox versions will have crossplay support on all servers with the versions for other platforms. The game will also have faster loading times on Xbox Series X and S compared to the versions for the previous generation of consoles, but only the Xbox Series

This is the first time that Final Fantasy XIV has been available for an Xbox console. In 2019, it was announced that the game was in the works for the Xbox One, but that never happened. Square Enix CEO Takashi Kiryu says during the festival From now on, games can be released for Xbox consoles ‘if possible’.

In addition, it was announced during the Fan Festival that the new DLC, Dawntrail, will be available next year. This expansion adds a new continent, Tural, and should herald the start of a new storyline, after the previous one was completed during the Endwalker DLC.

Furthermore, the mmorpg should receive a graphical upgrade from the release of Dawntrail, Square Enix promises. Work has been done on the quality of the textures, lighting and shadows, among other things. However, this does ensure that the minimum system requirements for the PC version are increased. From then on, at least an Intel Core i7-6700 processor and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon RX 480 video card are required.
