The unannounced Sonos Sub Mini has appeared at the American FCC. This seems to confirm previous rumors about the small subwoofer. It is not yet known when the subwoofer will be released or what it will cost.

The FCC has inspection documents of the Sonos Sub Mini recently released, write Reddit users and Protocol journalist Janko Roettgers on Twitter† The inspection confirms that the smaller subwoofer will have a cylindrical design, which was already expected. At the bottom there is an Ethernet connection, among other things. The documents also mention the arrival of a black and a white variant. The FCC tested the subwoofer in a setup where it was connected to a Sonos Beam soundbar.

Sonos currently sells a subwoofer, the Sub Gen 3, at a suggested retail price of 849 euros. The Sub Mini will have a smaller design and presumably a lower price. The Verge shared Earlier renders of the Sonos Sub Mini, which show that it will have a vertical cutout in the middle, just like the Sub Gen 3. The Sub Mini was also previously mentioned in the Sonos app.

It is not yet known when the new subwoofer will appear, but it is expected to happen this year. Sonos CEO Patrick Spence recently said the company will introduce “new products in existing categories” in fiscal 2022, which could include the Sub Mini. Sonos’ fiscal 2022 fiscal year runs through September. The Verge notes that the Sonos Roam speaker was approved by the FCC about a month before release. With the Sonos Ray soundbar, that happened about two months before it came out.
