Development of Pioneer, a space game whose teaser first appeared in Watch Dogs 2, has reportedly been halted. Alex Hutchinson, who was the director of Far Cry 4, claims Pioneer is no more. Ubisoft has yet to provide a substantive response to the claim.

Eurogamer noticed a Tweet from Hutchinson on, which shows the Pioneer teaser with the text “RIP Pioneer” on it. When asked by a user whether that meant Pioneer is really off the track, Hutchinson didn’t give a concrete answer. The Far Cry 4 director worked at Ubisoft until February 2017. It is not known how exactly he got the information and whether it is correct. Ubisoft has not yet responded to the comment.

The teaser for Pioneer appears in Watch Dogs 2 as part of a mission. In it, the player must enter a counterfeit version of Ubisoft’s San Francisco studio, steal the teaser and sell it to a game news website. A source at Ubisoft confirmed to Kotaku that the teaser was real and that the developer was working on Pioneer. However, it was reported that the development was difficult.
