Facebook explains per post why it appears in News Feed

Facebook has created a feature in which it explains per message why that appeared in the user’s feed. Users can also indicate there whether they want to see more of those posts in their feed.

This should give users more control over their news feed, Facebook reports. The feature works from the drop-down menu next to a post in the mobile app, the company said. The feature doesn’t seem to be active for all users yet.

The explanation includes whether users have previously liked or commented on posts from that person or page, signals that Facebook interprets as ways to infer that users are interested in those posts.

The new feature comes on top of previous features to show interest or disinterest in posts, people or pages, such as hiding such posts and muting posts for 30 days. Facebook has also had a function for four years that explains why users see certain advertisements.
