Epic Games comes with a new update for Fortnite, which includes adjustments for the use of controllers on the PC. Several professional players find that the aim assist provides too great a gameplay advantage.

Epic Games announces on Twitter that version 12.60 of Fortnite will be available this week. A number of changes will be made to it, including a dynamic resolution for the iOS version. Several adjustments will be made next week to address criticism of the aim assist among PC players with a controller. In the notes, Epic Games doesn’t say exactly what it’s going to change; the developer talks about tweaking and tuning the controllers that plug into a PC.

PC players who do not use a mouse and keyboard and choose to connect a controller will benefit from the aim assist functionality, as will players on an Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Basically this amounts to an automatic assist when targeting enemies.

Famous players such as Ninja, Tfue and Aydan express criticism. According to them, playing Fortnite with a controller ruins the experience for players who use a mouse and keyboard, because they don’t have an aim assist. Tfue shows that the best players all use a controller on PC. The criticism is aimed specifically at PC players with a controller rather than console players, even though both have aim assist at their disposal. The criticism is that aim assist works better on the PC and also provides too much of an advantage, because PC players also have other advantages, such as the possibility to use monitors with high refresh rates.
