Driver update: Intel PRO 100/1000 6.4

The owners of the professional network cards from Intel, the PRO/100 and PRO/1000, can be delighted with a new version of the drivers. This driver set bears the number 6.4 and is only intended for the Windows 2000 and XP platform. The following points are reported in the release notes:

What’s new in the 6.4 software release?

• Base driver and PROSet support for both Intel® PRO/100 and PRO/1000 families combined into a single download for each version of Windows.
• Support for the new adapters
• 6.4’s version of PROSet utilizes a new networking stack called Network Configuration Services (NCS) for Windows* 2000 and Windows XP. NCS provides:
  • Fault-Tolerant Management Interface (FTMI) support
  • Common Diagnostics Module (CDM) support
  • Enhanced 64-bit CIM support
  • Remote Diagnostics/Configuration support
  • NCS PROSet utility configuration tool updates
  • Apply button added to allow changes to be saved without closing Intel® PROSet
  • Ability to resize the GUI window
• Event Viewer messages are no longer displayed in the PROSet utility.
