Ddos people extort Surinamese government

Criminals carry out DDOs attacks on a number of Surinamese sites, including those of the government. In an email, the attackers would demand $10,000 worth of bitcoins, claiming that the Surinamese government is corrupt.

The attack takes place on the site of the Surinamese government, that of the country’s DSB bank, sms597, and that of the National Democratic Party. The government site went offline on Wednesday night, but is now operational again.

The government confirmed, among other things, that it was under fire against Starnieuws and announced that technicians were working to restore the connection. On Thursday, Starnieuws announced that more sites are affected by the attack and that the perpetrators are demanding ransom. For every day that $10,000 is not sent to a bitcoin address, the blackmailers add 10,000 to the requirement.

“This transaction must be done by the government we are NOT after the people’s money. The tables have turned government… the people want their money back”, the email said. The attackers would claim to be acting on behalf of Anonymous. According to the news site Waterkant, the perpetrators say they have taken all government sites offline and belong to the ‘we are tired’ generation.
