Fans of the science-fiction story Dune by the American author Frank Herbert and the world depicted in it can not only look forward to a new Dune film this year. A UHD Blu-ray edition of David Lynch’s 1984 film adaptation will also follow in the summer.

Distributor Arrow Films has announced that the UHD Blu-ray release of the 1984 film Dune will be released at the end of August. There will be four different versions, all limited editions that will be released in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Because UHD Blu-rays are no longer zoned, there are no restrictions when an instance is imported.

The four versions, some of which offer quite a bit of merchandise and other extras, all include the 137-minute theatrical cut. That’s a polished 4k scan of the original camera negatives. In terms of high dynamic range, users can choose between HDR10 or Dolby Vision. As for the sound, there is also a 5.1 surround track based on the DTS-HD MA codec.

After the release of this UHD Blu-ray, the new Dune film from director Dennis Villeneuve will be released at the end of September. This film is also based on Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel.
