The Danish manufacturer Lumigon has presented the T3 smartphone with night vision camera. It is probably a regular smartphone sensor without an infrared filter, which receives light from two LEDs to make objects visible in the dark.

Lumigon only mentions about the night vision camera that it is a sensor with a maximum resolution of four megapixels. The best-known camera with that maximum resolution for smartphones is the Omnivision OV4688, which HTC has used for years under the name Ultrapixel. It can be a regular camera, because all camera sensors can capture infrared light, but usually there is a filter in front of it that blocks infrared light, because then colors can be distorted and don’t look right in photos.

In addition to the infrared LEDs that serve as a flash for the night vision camera, there is also an infrared transmitter on top for use as a remote control for TVs and set-top boxes. In addition, Lumigon also talks about a function to snooze the alarm by means of a hand movement in front of the device, something that can also work via infrared.

In addition to the night vision camera, the Lumigon T3 also has a regular 13-megapixel camera on the back with two LED flashes, phase detection autofocus and the ability to film in 4k resolution. On the front is a front camera with a maximum resolution of five megapixels and a single LED flash.

The phone also has an altimeter and thermometer on board. Under the screen is a fingerprint scanner, which, among other things, enables the protection of certain data in a ‘safe’ on the phone. On the back is a touchpad, for scrolling through photos, among other things.

The OLED screen has a diagonal of 4.8 “and a resolution of 1280×720 pixels. Despite the relatively small screen for an Android phone, the device with a width of 137×69 mm is not much smaller than devices with larger screens. The device is 7, 9mm thick and weighs 145 grams.

The Danish Android 6.0 phone runs on a MediaTek Helio X10 soc with eight Cortex A53 cores at up to 2.2GHz. The GPU is a PowerVR G6200 from Imagination at 700MHz. Lumigon has added 3GB of memory. The storage has a capacity of 128GB.

Lumigon sells the T3, the successor to the T2 that the company presented in 2012, from 805 euros. The black version is available immediately, the Danish company will sell other color variants from June.
