The creative director of Ubisoft’s Beyond Good & Evil 2, Emile Morel, has died suddenly at the age of 40. The man had worked for more than 14 years at various Ubisoft studios and in the past was, among other things, lead game designer for Rayman Legends.

In a post on LinkedIn the news is announced, but without revealing the cause of Morel’s death. This is only described as ‘sudden’. Colleagues Greg Hermittant and M. Gabrielle Shrager join them own farewell letters for Morel, which they also post on LinkedIn. Hermittant describes Morel as ‘caring, supportive and with a beautifully positive spirit’.

According to MobyGames Morel worked on Alone in the Dark, The Adventures of Tintin: The Game, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Rayman Legends and Rayman Fiesta Run. He also worked on Beyond Good & Evil 2, a game that has been in development for such a long time that it has surpassed Duke Nukem Forever’s development time record since last year.
