Colorful introduces GTX 460 overclocked to 900MHz
Video card manufacturer Colorful has introduced the fastest GTX460 to date. The GPU was overclocked from 675MHz to 900MHz, an increase of no less than 33 percent. A large cooler with four heat pipes should keep the video card cool.
In order to be able to overclock the GPU of the GTX460 to 900MHz in a stable manner, Colorful was the first to tackle the PCB. The pcb would be plated with silver instead of copper, for lower resistance. The power supply is now in the hands of 6+1 VRMs, instead of the usual amount of 3+1 VRMs. There are also two bios chips on the pcb for easy switching between extremely high clock speeds and safe clock speeds. There are also voltage measuring points on the pcb, for the gpu and the memory.
After the many adjustments, Colorful dared to overclock the GPU from 675MHz to 900MHz, an increase of 33 percent. The memory also received a significant boost, from 3600MHz to 4200MHz, or almost 17 percent. To keep the GPU and VRMs cool, Colorful equipped the GTX 460 with the so-called iCooler. The cooler practically covers the entire pcb and even protrudes at some points. Four 8mm thick heat pipes dissipate the heat, while two fans provide the necessary air movement. The GTX 460 iGame would make an appearance in mid-September, for a price of around 250 euros.
