Wasteland 3 maker InXile Entertainment is working on Clockwork Revolution, a steampunk FPS game. A trailer has been shown and the game will be released for PCs and the Xbox Series X and S. There is no release date yet.

According to Xbox it will be an action RPG. “Explore the Victorian metropolis of Avalon, where key moments in history have been secretly altered to bring wealth and power to the elite. Clockwork Revolution takes RPG reactivity to new heights, where changes you make in the past can culminate in extraordinary and sometimes unexpected results in the present.”

The ruler of Avalon, Lady Ironwood, built her empire by altering the past through time travel and always shaping outcomes in her favor. The rebellious player character has a similar device and goes into battle with Lady Ironwood. Changing the past seems to be a mechanic that is incorporated into the gameplay, but also into the story.

InXile has created the modern Wasteland games in the past, as well as The Bard’s Tale. The studio was founded by veterans of Black Isle Studios, the original creators of Fallout. Clockwork Revolution’s lead developer, Jason Anderson, actually worked on Fallout 1 and 2.
