Awesome Games Done Quick has again raised more than $2 million for The Prevent Cancer Foundation, which is committed to cancer prevention. The final amount, about $2.2 million, is another record.

As a result, the week-long speedrunning marathon has raised a higher amount every year, with the exception of 2016. The published overview shows that more than 44,000 donations have been made with an average amount of about fifty dollars. The highest donation amounted to $108,092.32 and consisted of the proceeds from the organization’s Twitch channel. The money will go to an American organization, The Prevent Cancer Foundation, which provides financial support to international projects.

The speedrunning subreddit voted for its favorite runs, with AverageTrey’s Super Mario Sunshine run scoring the highest, followed by Resident Evil 7 Biohazard and Titenic. In total, more than 150 runs were shown, which were published in an overview. The number of viewers peaked at around 200,000 when a Bloodborne speedrun took place.

In speedrunning, gamers set themselves the goal of completing a game as quickly as possible. Certain conditions are often attached to this to make the challenge as interesting as possible for both the player and the viewer. For example, the player can be required to complete the game for one hundred percent or to race to the end as quickly as possible, regardless of how much content he skips. You can also vary the level of difficulty, the use of exploits and which in-game tools the player can use.
