According to the motherboard manufacturer, 600 and 700 series motherboards will receive a BIOS update for the Raptor Lake refresh processor, which means that motherboards for the twelfth generation of Intel processors can last another subgeneration. Furthermore, according to ASRock, the processors in question should receive DDR5-6400 support, but since 600 and 700 series motherboards are also still supported, DDR4 support also remains applicable. Current Raptor Lake CPUs support DDR5 speeds up to 5600MT/s for one dimm per memory channel.

The brand also mentions a performance indication: a performance gain of four to eight percent, based on one core and compared with the regular Raptor Lake generation. Multicore performance is said to improve by eight to fifteen percent. Such relatively small performance improvements are to be expected with a refresh, though highlights VideoCardz that it is not entirely clear how ASRock arrived at these figures. According to the website, the manufacturer’s Chinese account posts unofficial data more often.

ASRock says in the deleted post that Intel will launch the Raptor Lake refresh in October, which has already been suggested by several sources. The 14th Gen Core CPUs are expected to be announced during the Intel Innovation event on September 19.
